Abstract
Bronchial asthma and rhinosinusitis are common respiratory diseases that often coexist . Furthermore and of considerable interest is the possiblity that severity of asthma is influenced by the upper airway diseases. The influence and interaction between asthma and rhinitis exist with chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic rhinitis and viral respiratory tract infection. These observations raise the possiblity that events in the upper respiratory tract can influence lower respiratory tract. The first suggestion of possible association of upper and lower respiratory tract pathology comes from the studies demonstrating that asthmatics have abnormal paranasal sinus radiographs. All the bronchial asthma patients with nasal symptoms should be evaluated by Otorhinolaryngologist for Rhinosinusitis screening & may be included in their management protocol. Treating the rhinosinusitis improves the peak expiratory flow rate in asthma patients. Managing rhino sinusitis alleviates the asthma symptoms and improve their quality of life.
