Abstract
Video Head Impulse is the most recent advance in the field of diagnostics for vertigo. VHIT is an objective measure of vestibuloocular reflex, in response to head thrust. It is based on Halmagyi-Curthoys Head impulse test and measures ‘catch-up’ saccades in patients having dysfunctional VOR. VHIT uses computerized technology to measure eye velocities and saccades. It differentiates between central and peripheral vertigo. It can detect lesions in individual semicircular canal and records both overt and covert saccades. It also reports occulomotor tests including gaze, skew deviations and positional tests. This study highlights the advantage and accuracy of using VHIT to help diagnose patients with vertigo.
