The trial drug Gandhaga Chooranam was selected from the Siddha literature, “Anuboga vaidya navaneetham.” for the evaluation of safety and efficacy of the drug in cervical cancer. ❖ The ingredients of the test drug were identified and authenticated by Department of Botany and Gunapadam, National Institute of Siddha, Chennai 47. The drug was prepared as per the procedure and subjected to various studies to reveal its potency and effectiveness. ❖ Review of Literature in various categories was carried out Gunapadam aspect, Mineralogical aspect, Pharmaceutical and pharmacological review about the drug. ❖ The drug was subjected to analysis such as physicochemical, chemical, toxicological and pharmacological analysis. ❖ Chemical analysis of the drug Gandhaga Chooranam revealed the presence of Iron, Arsenic, Mercury, Alkaloids, and Tannins are responsible for the anti-cancer activity. ❖ The availability of bacterial load in the Gandhaga Chooranam has been performed and the result shows presence of bacterial and fungal load within the normal limits of trial drug. ❖ Toxicological study of acute toxicity study was carried out in animal model Wistar albino rat according to the OECD guidelines. The test drug showed no acute toxicity as there was no mortality seen. ❖ The pharmacological study was carried out in the animal model. The activities were, Anti-inflammatory activity in Carrageenan induced paw oedema method. Analgesic Activity in Eddy’s Hot plate method. Anti-cancer activity in HeLa cell line by MTT assay ❖ Anti – inflammatory activity of Gandhaga Chooranam -720mg/kg b.w showed significant to reduce the inflammation. ❖ Analgesic activity of Gandhaga Chooranam -800mg/kg b.w showed significant to reduce the pain. ❖ Anti –cancer activity of Gandhaga Chooranam -200mg/kg b.w showed significant to reduce the cell proliferation From the results and statistical analysis, it was proved that the drug Gandhaga Chooranam has Anti-cancer activity, Anti-inflammatory activity and Analgesic activity. This present study suggests Gandhaga Chooranam has remarkable medicinal value in the treatment of cervical cancer. Thus, the Siddha formulation is Gandhaga Chooranam Standardized and validated for its efficacy in treating cervical cancer and it would be a great drug of choice. CONCLUSION: From the Literature evidence,Physico-chemical analysis,chemical analysis, toxicological and pharmacological studies, the drug Gandhaga Chooranam have potent anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities. Finally, the research study concluded that the trial drug Gandhaga Chooranam can be used for Kutta noigal, Nanjukadikal, Nanju kattigal, Vikkal, Marbhu silanthi, Thalai val, Vadha noigal, Kirani, Moolam, Linga putru, Algul putru and Moothira kiricharam.
