Abstract

ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER is a neuro developmental disorder of children. Actually many of them are drudgery to the condition, many time these are unidentified by their parents, teachers, etc. They are being naughty with restlessness, cannot concentrate on one thing not even for a short time. That behaviour makes them a burden for their parents, teachers and later to society, by their antisocial behaviour. Impulsivity of the child may later develop as antisocial activities in the adulthood. It had occurred frequently in our country and I had seen behaviours which resembling ADHD and we were able to diagnose with the help of Diagnostic and statistical manual for disease (DSM- IV) criteria. I planned to conduct my study as experimental study without control. For this 30 cases diagnosed as ADHD should be selected randomly from the patients consulting our OPD, IPD and peripheral centers of sarada Krishna homoeopathic medical college and will be analysed based on the totality and the remedies will be prescribed referring synthesis repertory, as it is the most favoured repertory of the modern era. So I sprout to attain a favourable result in the study of cases with ADHD. AIM & OBJECTIVES: 1. To study the utility of synthesis repertory in management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder 2. To study the commonly used rubrics and medicine in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. METHODOLOGY: Single group, experimental, pre and post study devoid of control. The study was carried out at OPD, IPD and rural centers of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital. Data was collected in the pre-structured SKHMC chronic case format. Diagnostic criteria based on systematic clinical presentation of the patient and DSM IV Criteria, prognosis of the case, and improvement criteria analyzed based on the Vanderbilt parent rating scale. Cases were followed up and assessment was done on monthly basis up to a period of 6months or till the follow up. Results were subjected to statistical analysis and hypothesis was tested using paired ‘t’ test. Prescription was done with reference to standard text books of Material Medica along with potency selection and repetition of medicines were followed according to the principles laid down in the Organon of medicine. RESULTS: My study which gives a conclusion that, among 30 cases under study, 28 case shows an improvement in behavioural problem in children’s between 5 – 18 yrs. 13 cases (43.33%) shows marked improvement, 8 cases (27%) shows moderate improvement & 7 cases (23.33%) mild improvement, 2 cases (6.66%) shows no improvement. This was statistically interpreted and a marked reduction was seen in the post test scores when compared to pretest scores. This clearly indicates that homoeopathic similimum selected with Synthesis Repertory rubric is effective. CONCLUSION: Among various homoeopathic prescriptions, treating ADHD patient by considering the rubric from synthesis repertory, which becomes more reliable and complete than any curative formula of modern medicine.
