Abstract

Joint pain is the most common problem among women than men. Health care providers especially community health nurse are playing a vital role in educating persons about care of joint pain. The joint pain can be reduced by applying camphor oil on joint. Keeping this point in view, a study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of camphor oil application on joint pain among menopausal women at selected rural areas, Coimbatore. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Effectiveness of camphor oil application on reduction of joint pain among menopausal women at selected rural areas, Coimbatore. OBJECTIVES: 1. To assess the severity of joint pain among menopausal women. 2. To apply camphor oil on the joint among menopausal women. 3. To reassess the severity of joint pain among menopausal women. 4. To associate the findings with demographic variables of menopausal women. METHODOLOGY: One group pre test post test pre-experimental design was used. This study consists of 50 samples of menopausal women were selected by non-probability convenience sampling technique. Numerical pain intensity scale was used to assess the severity of joint pain. RESULTS: Descriptive and Inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The obtained ‘t’ test value was 21.59 which was significant at 0.05 level. CONCLUSION: The study revealed that camphor oil application is effective on reduction of the severity of joint pain among menopausal women.
