Abstract

A pediatric nurse contributes to the maximum extent in guiding the youth in this community work especially in rural areas. Introducing reproductive health awareness in schools and colleges will great value. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Effectiveness of Computer Assisted Instruction on Reproductive Health Education among Middle Adolescent Boys in Government School, Samayanallur at Madurai. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the study is to assess the knowledge on Reproductive Health education, evaluate the effectiveness of computer assisted instruction and associate the knowledge of middle adolescent boys with that of demographic variables. RESEARCH DESIGN: The experimental design (pretest, posttest and control group design) was selected for this study Data were collected from 60 selected samples by using the interview technique. DATA ANALYZING: Descriptive and inferential statistics (Paired ‘t’ test, Chi square test, Pearson Correlation coefficient interpretation for r value) were used to analyze the data. The study was conceptualized based on reducing Modified Donabedian model study reveals that the over all pretest knowledge in Reproductive Health Education among middle adolescent boys knowledge was inadequate. After computer assisted instruction programme the t value was 19.48 with the p< 0.001 Paired ‘t’ test value which was highly significant. So there is an improvement on Reproductive Health Education among middle adolescent boys in experimental group. There is an association between the level of knowledge with that of age and education of adolescent boys. CONCLUSION: Sex is a very sensitive subject that it is still considered a taboo in Indian culture and a topic believed not to be discussed openly. However there is growing recognition of the need to inculcate responsible, reproductive behaviour among the adolescent.
