HYPOTHESIS 1. The mean post test knowledge score of parents of under five children regarding benefits of balwadi will be significantly higher then the mean pre test knowledge score of parents of under five who had SVTP. 2. The mean post test attitude score of parents of under five children regarding benefits of balwadi will be significantly higher then the mean pre test attitude score of parents of under five who had SVTP. 7 3. There will be a positive relationship between the post test knowledge score and post test attitude score of parents of under five children regarding benefits of balwadi. 4. There will be a positive association between knowledge of parents of under five and their selected demographic variable. 5. There will be a positive association between attitude of parents of under five and their selected demographic variable. The conceptual framework used for the study was J.W Kenny open system. Research design used was a Quasi experimental one group pre test and post test .The study was conducted in Sundakamuthur and Ramchettipalayam in Coimbatore. The population consisted of parents of under five children. The sampling techniques used for the study was convenient sampling to select 60samples from total population. The data collection tool consisted of demographic variables, self administered questionnaire on multiple choice question to asses the knowledge Likert scale to assess the attitude. Pilot study was conducted in Telungupalayam to find out the feasibility of the study. Reliability was acquired by split half method, the score ‘r’ = (0.98, 0.84) was highly reliable. Data collection was done with in 2 weeks. The data collection was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. MAJOR STUDY FINDING  The mean score of knowledge and attitude in post test were greater than the pre test mean score. The ‘t’ value obtained were highly significant at < 0.05level. 8  The relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude were found to have positive correlation (‘r’ =o.18, 0.8) in pre test and post test.  There was significant association between knowledge and attitude of parents of under five children with the selected demographic variables The above finding supports that the educational programmes will help to gain adequate knowledge and adequate attitude regarding the benefits of balwadi.
