Abstract

BACKGROUND: A periodic physiologic haemorrhage occurring at intervals of about 4 weeks and having its source in the uterine mucous membrane, usually the bleeding is preceded by ovulation and predecidual changes in the endometrium. Menstruation describes women’s monthly bleeding. When periods comes regularly, this is called menstrual cycle. The rise and fall of levels of hormones during the month control the menstrual cycle. Having regular menstrual cycle is a sign that importants parts of your body are working normally. There are several different Menstrual problems that women’s may experience throughout the cycle. So from this study, to justify the Menstrual complaints with the help of Guernsey’s Menstruation table. OBJECTIVES: 1. Efficacy of Guernsey’s Menstruation table, in indicating simillimum for Menstrual Irregularities. 2. Changes in Individual symptoms of cases with Menstrual Irregularities. METHODS: A sample of 30 cases presenting with the symptoms of Irregular Menses visiting the OPD, IPD and Rural centres of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College was randomly selected. A scoring chart based on improvement criteria was formulated to assess the efficacy of treatment after the baseline assessment. Medicinal selection was done with the repertorisation using rubrics selected from the Guernsey’s Menstruation table. Follow up assessment was done on monthly basis. Paired “t” test was used to determine the variation of scores before and after treatment and to evaluate if they are statistically significant. RESULTS: My study which was carried on 30 patients shows mild to marked improvement in individual symptoms of cases with menstrual irregularities. Cases were followed up to maximum of 6 months. Before and after test results were statistically verified. Among 30 cases under the study, 15 cases (50%) shows marked improvement, 13 cases (43%) shows moderate improvement & 2 cases (6%) mild improvement. CONCLUSION: The medicine selection based on rubrics from Guernsey’s Menstruation table is effective in indicating simillimum and changes in individual symptoms of cases with Menstrual Irregularities.
