Abstract

NEERMULLI CHOORANAM: The drug NEERMULLI CHOORNAM has been taken to establish its efficacy in treating Paandu. The dose of neermulli choornam is 1gm twice daily with Honey before food. A brief description pertaining to its botanical aspect, phytochemistry and Gunapadam has been referred. Collection information from various literature and website has been referred. Bio chemical analysis of the drug shows the presence of Calcium, Ferrous iron, Unsaturated compound. Pharmacological analysis shows that the drug has got significant heamatinic activity. Microbiological analysis shows that the drug has got sensitivity to streptococcus pneumoniae and staphylococcus aureus. Bio statistical analysis shows that the drug is effective in controlling Paandu. From the clinical assessment it is inferred that Neermulli choornam possesses remarkable efficacy in treating Paandu and the drug has got no adverse reactions. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that the test drug NEERMULLI CHOORNAM has significant Haematinic effect and it has no adverse effects. ANNABEDI CHENDURAM: In this dissertation, the test drug ‘Annabedi chenduram’ has been taken to prove its haemostatic activity in treating perumbaadu. The dose of this chenduram 100mg twice daily with honey after food. The review of literatures above the drug and its significance in medicine from traditional books were collected. Information about the drug from various sources have been documented. Bio – chemical analysis showed the presence of Calcium, Ferrous Iron, Sulphate,Carbonate and Amino acid and their biological significance has been discussed. Pharmacological analysis revealed that the test drug has good haemostatic activity and analgesic activity. Acute Toxicity study of the test drug revealed that there is no toxin related remarkable pathological changes on Albino rats. So the drug is safe for long term as well as short term therapies. Micro-biological analysis revealed that the test drug is moderately sensitive against Staphylococcus. Bio-statistical analysis also revealed that the test drug has significant effect in treating perumbaadu. For the clinical assessment, 40 patients were selected. Among these 27 cases (67.5%) showed good response, 10 cases (25%) showed fair response and 3cases (7.5%) showed poor response. From this, it is inferred that the test drug has effective and potent haemostatic activity and has no untoward effects. CONCLUSION: From the above studies, it can be concluded that the test drug “Annabedi chenduram” has good haemostatic activity and it has no untoward effects in the clinical trial.
