Abstract

BACKGROUND: Conduction Blocks are frequent complications of Acute Myocardial Infarction, with incidence of 15 – 25%. Development of Conduction Block worsens the outcome of Acute MI.Knowledge about various types of conduction Block occurring during Acute MI guides in early intervention there by improving prognosis. METHOD: A Prospective Observational study conducted in 200 patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction admitted in our hospital and the data collected is used to identify Incidence ,Various patterns of Block and Prognosis in terms of Mortality. RESULT: According to the study the incidence of Conduction block in Acute Myocardial Infarction is 17.5% with specific pattern of block observed to be commonly associated with site of Infarction and increased mortality observed with specific type of Conduction Block. CONCLUSION: The incidence of Conduction Block is 17.5%,with occurrence of specific pattern of block depending on site of infarction and poor prognosis with specific type.
