Abstract

The prevalence of child abuse is increasing in children urban and semi ..urban India. Impacts of child abuse and neglect are physical problems, psychological problems, behavioral and social complications. OBJECTIVES To assess the level of knowledge, attitude and expressed practice regarding prevention of child abuse. METHODS Study design was descriptive research design was adopted. 100 mothers are selected by convenient sampling method. The study was conducted in Sithurajapuram at Sivakasi. The tool used for the study was structure questionnaire for knowledge, attitude scale and check list for expressed practice to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and expressed. RESULTS Majority of mothers 54(54%) had average knowledge, 48(48%) had moderately favorable attitude and 38(38%) had good expressed practice. Correlation between the knowledge, attitude and expressed practice is moderately positive correlation. DISCUSSION This study shows mothers having average level of knowledge, attitude and good expressed practice regarding prevention of child abuse.
