PURPOSE OF THE STUDY : The objective was to study the effect of backward walking training improving on gait velocity and functional balance in stroke patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS : 30 stroke patients were randomly assigned to group A and group B.The outcome measures were 10 meter walk test, functional reach test and cadence. Pre and post session intervention value of out come measures were noted in 1st and 42nd day of intervention. RESULT : This study shows that there is significant improvement in gait velocity and functional balance in two groups. But the subjects in group A showed significant improvement than the subjects in Group B. CONCLUSION : This study concludes that the backward walking training demonstrates significant improvement on gait velocity and functional balance in stroke patients.
