Abstract
Pain is a multi dimensional phenomenon. Management of pain includes pharmacological and non pharmacological approaches. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that may affect many tissues & organs but principally attacks the joints produce an inflammatory synovitis that often progresses to destruction of articular cartilage and ankylosis of the joints. The researcher found that the hot water application is very effective in relieving pain in the joints. Hence the Researcher planned to conduct a study to assess the effectiveness of hot water application with Epsom salt in reducing joint pain among old age patients with Rheumatoid arthritis in a selected hospital at Coimbatore. A study to evaluate the effectiveness of laughter therapy on depression among elderly persons staying in selected old age home, at Erode district, Tamilnadu.
