Abstract

40 cases with Azhal keel vayu were diagnosed clinically based on yugi 800 and admitted in the inpatient ward and outpatient ward of post graduate department of Siddhar Yoga Maruthuvam, Government Siddha Medical College Hospital, palayamkottai and treated by the trial medicines. ❖ Laboratory diagnosis of Azhal keel vayu was done by siddha diagnostic principles and endorsed by modern methods of investigations. ❖ The various siddha aspects of examination of the disease were carried out and were recorded in the proforma. ❖ The trial medicine chosen for both internal and external treatments were AVURI ILAI KUDINEER 30ml twice a day in two divided doses for Forty days as per the severity of the diseases. ❖ Before starting the treatment careful detailed history was carried out and recorded for the forty selected cases. ❖ During the period of treatment all the patients were put under pathiyam (A specific dietary regimen). ❖ A periodical laboratory investigation was made for all the cases along with the radiological investigations. ❖ The observations made during the clinical study shows that the main internal drug AVURI ILAI KUDINEER and YOGA THERAPY (External) is clinically effective. ❖ Though there was appreciable clinical improvement, there was not much remarkable radiographic changes. CONCLUSION: All 40 patients (20 as group 1, and 20 as group 2) were taken for this dissertation work with AVURI ILAI KUDINEER 30ml/day in two divided doses and Yoga therapy(externally) In the preclinical study pharmacological evaluation of the trial drug shows: ◉ Significant analgesic effect. ◉ Significant Anti inflammatory effect (Trial drug). ❖ In the preclinical study toxicity study of “AVURI ILAI KUDINEER” shows that the trial drug had no acute toxicity. The effect of yoga therapy alone (Group 1) are: Marked effect - 75%, Moderate effect -15%, Mild effect - 10%, No effect - 0%. The effect of the Avuri ilai kudineer alone (Group 2) are Marked effect - 65%, Moderate effect - 25%, Mild effect - 10%, No effect - 0%. ❖ This result of the clinical trial illustrates the marked effect of the trial drug and yoga therapy. ❖ The clinical study shows significant decrease in the symptoms of the disease. The trial drug and yoga therapy gives a good confidence in the management of Azhal keel vayu and economically very low cost. No adverse effects were noticed during the treatment period. So the trial medicine is safe and easily preparable medicine. ❖ Finally concluded that the trial medicine Avuri ilai kudineer and yoga therapy is effective in the treatment of azhal keel vayu. ❖ External therapies can be done in major measure with locally available resources and therefore is accessible and afforadable to the entire society. It is the emblem of our siddha system. There are occasions where the administration of oral drug impossible and hence to revive the patient, administration of drugs and manipulate through the external therapies. ❖ Further researches must be done to list out various goodness of the external therapies in our siddha system.
