Abstract

Kidney stone disease is a crystal concretion formed usually within the kidneys. Mankind has been afflicted by kidney stones since centuries dating back to 4000 B.C. The prevalence of urinary stones in Indian population is about 12%, out of which 50% population ends up with loss of kidney functions. However lifetime recurrence rate is higher in males, the incidence of nephrolithiasis is growing among females. Therefore prophylactic management is of great importance to manage urolithiasis. Yugi Vaithiya Chinthamani-800 describes the aetiology, types, symptoms and prognosis of Kalladaippu. Siddha recommends the lifestyle changes with dietary habits and effective management through cost effective Vellaivithai Chooranam. The preclinical, clinical and statistical evaluations were conducted. In this clinical study 77% outpatients and 80% of inpatients showed good response. Moderate response was observed in 23% of outpatients and 20% of inpatients. The statistical analysis showed good significant value (P<0.0001).
