Abstract

The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of Amirthathi nei (Internal) and Elumichankai ennai (External) sinusitis in children. ❖ The etiology, signs and symptoms of sura peenisam have been correlated with that of sinusitis in children with evidence of literature. ❖ Clinical diagnosis and selection of cases based on clinical features described in text book. ❖ The internal medicine chosen for treatment and management of surapeenisam with AMIRTHATHI NEI is 5-10 ml for7 to12 years, twice a day after food. ❖ The trial drug selection based on its pharmacological action to pacify the deranged vaatham, pitham, kabam and also due to its, Anti- inflammatory, Anti microbial effects the ingredients. ❖ 40 cases were diagnosed with surapeenisam clinically observed for clinical diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis, absolute eosinophil count during the treatment and the results were recorded in the proforma. ❖ Urine, Haematological examinations were done before and after the treatment of trial drug. ❖ The treatment covers the administration of trial drug according to the age. ❖ The documentation of observations made during the clinical study showed that the drug is clinically more effective. ❖ Sterlity test by pour plate method of Amirthathi nei shows no growth/colonies like E-coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus Aureus and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. ❖ In the pharmacological analysis, the trial drug AMIRTAHTHI NEI had significant, Anti-inflammatory, Anti microbial activity which controlling the disease help to improve the patients the patients quality of life. ❖ The physic chemical analysis of the trial drug shows the Viscosity at 50C (Pa S)-61.26, Refractive index-1.52, Weight per (gm/ml). Iodine value (mg 12/g)-85.73, Saponifcation value (mg of KOH to saponify 1gm of fat)-152.24, Acid value mg KOH/g- 0.72, Per oxidase value mEq/kg-4.06.So it shows the safe and effectiveness of the drug. With these benefits of AMIRTHATHI NEI is more effective drug for SURAPEENISAM (Surapeenisam in children). CONCLUSION: Sinusitis in children is the most common disease among the school going children. ❖ In this clinical study Amirthathi nei were taken as Internal medicine respectively. Surapeenisam occurs due to alteration in kuttram. In Amirthathi nei most of the drugs is to regulate the deranged kuttrams. Ghee based medicine nourishes the immune system and increases improve the health. So I choose this drug and it is more effective to reduce the symptoms. ❖ The treatments of surapeenisam with amirthathi nei has showed good response with an adverse effect and ensure to be safe, effective and simple to administration. The drugs have anti–inflammatory activity, aniti microbial activity. ❖ Statistically it is concluded that the treatment was effective and highly significant. ❖ By using scores, parameters for assessments of sura peenisam shows there is a significant difference between before treatment and after treatment. ❖ Clinical results were found to be good improvement was found in 70% of cases, moderate 12.5% of cases, and poor in 7.5% of cases. ❖ The clinical trial conducted in selected patients was satisfactory and encourgaging.
