Abstract

The trial drug Gandhaga Poora Parpam selected form Siddha literature Anuboga Vaithiya Navaneetham, Part-6 was indicated for Yoniputru (Cervical Cancer), Lingaputru, Pavuthiram (Fistula), Megapulligal, Megapadai, Venkuttam, Kandamalai, Meganoigal (Veneral disease). ❖ The Gandhaga Poora Parpam possess the classical characters of Parpam as mentioned in the literatures. ❖ The Organoleptic character shows the test drug was mild odour and slight bitter taste hence it doesn’t cause nausea or vomiting in oral administration. ❖ The test drug pH is 8.5 alkaline in nature, the drug will get ionized in stomach and absorbed in intestine and sent directly to the portal system. ❖ The test drug was soluble in water and ethanol directly related to enhance the bioavailability of the test drug. ❖ The test drug Loss on Drying at 105 °C (%) was 0.3 ± 0.05568, Total ash(%) was 94.43 ± 1.901, Acid insoluble ash(%) was 0.4167 ± 0.07024. The total ash for Gandhaga Poora Parpam determines the presence of inorganic salts. The low acid insoluble ash shows purity of the test drug. The above physiochemical parameters will shows the quality standard of test drug. ❖ The phytochemical analysis shows the presence of Saponin, Betacyanin, Sugar in the test drug Gandhaga Poora Parpam. ❖ In biochemical analysis, the test for acid radicals reveals the presence of Sulphates, Nitrates,Carbonates. The test for basic radicals reveals the presence of Mercury in the test drug Gandhaga Poora Parpam. It possess anti tumour activity. ❖ The sterility test shows the test drug Gandhaga Poora Parpam was free from viable microorganism. ❖ SEM-EDX analysis confirm the presence of Carbon, Oxygen, Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium and nickel containing compounds present in the formulation GPP. ❖ The FTIR shows the presence of functional group like Alcohol, Amine, Nitro, Alkane groups. ❖ Toxicological study was made according to OECD guidelines comprising both acute and repeated oral dose 28days toxicity studies in wistar albino rats. It showed the safety of the drug which attributes its utility for long time administration. ❖ Pharmacological studies were completed.LC 50 value was 75.72278239μg/ml in SiHa cell line and LC50 value was 153.84292μg/ml in HeLa cell line. It proved the Anti-cancer activity through HeLa cell line, anti-tumour activity through HeLa and SiHa cell line models and anti-oxidant activity by DPPH assay of Gandhaga Poora Parpam. ❖ Results and discussion give the essential validations to prove the potency of the drug. ❖ The cytotoxic drug also cause secondary effect like alopecia, Gastritis, etc. and ❖ But the Siddha drug does not interact with other cells and not causing contraindications. ❖ Nanoparticles are directly act in to the nucleus of the cell. Parpam also in nature of parpam. ❖ Conclusion gives a compiled form of the study and explains the synergistic effect of all the key ingredients and activities that supports the study. CONCLUSION: Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy found among women worldwide and some are highly resistant to radiotherapy. The other chemotherapy drugs cause intolerable side effects which are worse than the disease. This paved way for a novel anticancer drug which cures cervical cancer in a non-invasive method. The preclinical studies of Gandhagapooraparpam shows that it is safe and efficacious drug to treat cervical cancer. The test drug was found to be in nano-particle size and purity. The test drug Gandhagapooraparpam was standardized with the quality control techniques and also as per the Pharmacopeia laboratory test specification for AYUSH formulations. Cytotoxic drugs themselves may cause secondary cancers. Because of this adverse effect we need some efficacy and less side effect treatment of cancer in other system of medicines. Siddha system of medicine does not cause any harmful effects and is very effective in treatment of cancer cells. The test drug Gandhagapooraparpam will endure to fulfill the design requirements, such as • Safety, as the toxicity profile shows no behavioral changes or death. • Efficacious because of the significant reduction of tumour cells in cell line studies. • Cost effective. • Easily storable, does not need any special storage requirements.
