The Study on the trial drug Aynkaaya Chooranam for Kattu Maantham was done to detect the clinical symptoms earlier in paediatric age group. The literature evidence of both Siddha and modern were reviewed and also the recent studies and characteristics of individual ingredients of the trial drug were collected. The study was conducted after the proposal was screened by the screening committee of GSMC&H. The clinical study has been approved by IEC of GSMC&H. The trial was registered in Clinical Trial Registry of India with register number – CTRI/2020/01/022916. The ingredients of the trial drug were authenticated by the Gunapadam department of GSMC&H, Palayamkottai and the trial drug was prepared by Standard operating Procedure under the guidance and supervision of Head of the department of Kuzhanthai Maruthuvam. Patients who were attending the OPD and IPD of Kuzhanthai Maruthuvam in GSMC, Palayamkottai have the complaint of Kattu Maantham, patients were observed and clinically diagnosed. According to the literature evidence the symptoms of Kattu Maantham correlated with Constipation. Clinical diagnosis of Kattu Maantham was done on the basis of inclusion criteria. Diagnosis had been based on the proforma including all detailed history of the patients. The patients were treated with trial drug Aynkaaya Chooranam for 7 days. Patients were instructed to take the medicines regularly and advised to follow up. The efficacy of the trial drug was analysed based on all the symptoms in Assessment criteria. The Phytochemical analysis reveals the presence of Calcium,Sulphate,Chloride,Starch,Tannic acid and Unsaturated compound. The trial drug Aynkaaya Chooranam have significant Laxative and diuretic activity. Anti-microbial study shows that the trial drug Aynkaaya Chooranam was sensitive against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in dose dependent manner. Among 46 patients, 29 subjects show good improvement (63%), 14 subjects show moderate improvement (30%) and 3 subjects show mild improvement (7%). From the above result it is evident that the signs and symptoms were gradually reduced. The observation made during the clinical study showed that the trial drug Aynkaaya Chooranam was clinically effective on Kattu Maantham (Constipation). CONCLUSION: As a result, this Clinical Study among 46 subjects, 29 subjects show good improvement (63%), 14 subjects show moderate improvement (30%) and 3 subjects show mild improvement (7%). 29 subjects (63%) are fully recovered from Kattu Maantham and there is gradual reduction in clinical symptoms and also there is no re-occurrence of the disease during the course of treatment. It is evident that the trial medicine was effective for the management of Kattu Maantham and also there is no adverse effects. Analytical Specifications of Aynkaaya Chooranam and Pre-clinical studies evident the safety and efficacy of the trial drug. It is also assured that it is safe for the use of pediatric age group. Hence, the study concluded that the Aynkaaya Chooranam as internal medicine treats Kattu Maantham along with healthy diet and good hygiene.
