Acalypha indica plant is selected based on literature survey. The plant has many activities. ➢ The result of FTIR study confirmed the complex formation and there is no functional group change and the excipients used were compatible in each other. ➢ The Acalypha indica extract was prepared by using ethanol and ethanolic extract of plant were prepared as phytosomes by antisolvent precipitation technique. ➢ Total of ten formulations were prepared and were evaluated for percentage yield, solublity, drug content, entrapment efficiency invitro drug release studies. ➢ Among ten formulations F3 (F3) was selected based on the invitro release and it was in corporated into a gel by using carbapol 934. ➢ The prepared phytosomal gel formulation was subjected to different tests like PH, spreadabilty, extrudability, drug content, rheological studies. ➢ The optimized formulation 3(F3) showed excellent antibacterial activity. ➢ Release kinetic study result revealed the formulation followed by Non Ficken diffusion mechanism. ➢ Stability studies were conducted as per ICH gudlines and there is no change occur in the duration of stability study. From this, it can be concluded that the topical delivery is used for localized effect at the site of their application and the phytosomal delivery techniques minimize the toxicities and improve the absorption and bioavailability.
