Abstract

Nursing profession is a practice focused Profession and it is considered a Dynamic in modern era. The Health Care Delivery system is changing very rapidly. Cesarean section is a life saving measure, performed for the Wellness of the mother and child, without altering the natural mechanism of the body. In Cesarean section needs of the mother is much more, than compared to Normal child birth. The last decade has seen a substantial rise in the utilization of cesarean section. Women underwent Cesarean sections have to face issues like Deep vein Thrombosis, post cesarean anaesthesia complications, hemorrhage, embolism, etc. The trends towards cesarean section is increasing day by day, similarly the incidence of these complications might be on the rise. These problems can be overcome by early ambulation of mothers. Early ambulation is the key to get speedy recovery also enhance the maximum muscle function and restoration of mothers health. TITLE: “A Study to assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge regarding early Stride among Post Cesarean Mothers at Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Government Hospital for Women and Children, Egmore, Chennai. OBJECTIVES: 1. To assess the level of knowledge regarding early stride among post cesarean mothers, 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme onearly stride among post cesarean mothers, 3. To find association between the post test knowledge of early stride with selected demographic variables. METHODOLOGY: The study was conducted with 100 samples [ post cesarean mothers] in quantitative approach. Pre experimental one group pre test post test design, sample selection was done by Non Probability purposive sampling technique method. Pre- existing knowledge was assessed using semi structured questionnaires. After the pre-test, structured teaching programme was given regarding early stride among post cesarean mothers. After 7 days post test was conducted using same tool. RESULTS: The findings of the study revealed that structured teaching programme had improved the knowledge regarding early stride among post cesarean mothers with paired t test, p < 0.001. The study results showed significant mean gain score in post test comparative to the pre test justifies that there is significant effectiveness of the structured teaching programme. The results also showed that knowledge is statistically associated with age, gestational age of the mother, monthly income, type of family. CONCLUSION: The resultof shows that structured teaching programme was effective in improving knowledge regarding Early stride among post cesarean mothers.
