Abstract

Children are the assets of nation. Health plays a vital role in the future of the children to withstand and meet the personal, psychological and social needs and to fulfill the challenges in life. Parental interviews focused on medication -leukemia drugs, radiation, and supportive measures and side effect management in the home. Researchers suggest that instead of classify parents as depressed or stressed, it would be more helpful to investigate the holistic multidimensional concept of quality of life. Quality of life is a broad concept that includes different aspects of life. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is defined as “an individual’s perception of his/her position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which he/she lives, and in relation to his/her goals, expectations, standards and concerns. Since the reduction of these complications requires a careful management of children, the nurses can help these mothers to make decisions about their daily affairs by empowering and identifying their abilities as the first managers of their sick children, and provide training programs tailored to the lifestyle of these mothers. In this study we evaluate mother’s empowerment program, which was designed to support the home management of children with leukemia. Our objective was to improve the experience and outcomes of children with leukemia and their families.
