BACKGROUND: An acute illness is a disease with an abrupt onset and a short course, it may be severe and can impair normal functioning, it appears suddenly and progress rapidly, which need immediate attention. This study was done to evaluate the significance of Homoeopathy in management of acute diseases using the rubrics in Lippe’s Repertory to the more characteristic symptoms of material medica. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A sample of 30 acute cases were taken for the study. The study was carried out in Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic medical college hospital and rural centres. Cases were selected as per inclusion criteria and diagnosis was mainly based on the clinical presentation. Improvement criteria were based on the symptomatic relief. Repertorial approach according to Repertory to the more characteristic symptoms of material medica by Lippe. Prescription was done with reference to standard textbooks of Material medica. Potency selection were made according to the principles laid down in the Organon of medicine. Follow up assessment were done on daily basis. All minute changes in the symptoms were observed and recorded, before treatment scores were compared with after treatment scores. Standard treatment guidelines by CCRH will be followed throughout the study. No cases with any serious adverse effect or irreversible pathology during the study were forecast. Improvement assessed in each case and find out the effectiveness of rubrics of Lippe’s repertory in the management of acute diseases. RESULTS: The mean Disease Intensity Score of 30 acute cases is 12.2 on Day 1; day 2 with 8.06; day 3 with 3.66; day 4 with 0.93; and during day 5 the mean value is 0. The result showed significant improvement in day 3 and day 4, determined from the reduction in the mean disease intensity score. CONCLUSION: Lippe’s Repertory has significant role in indicating simillimum in Homoeopathic management of Acute Diseases.
