Abstract

Background of this research was sparked from Fay spread theory of oil spill (1969, 1971) which explains the spreading nature of oil in oceans during accidental oil spills. • Based on the theory, this research was planned to explore hidden scientific background behind siddha diagnostic tool NEYKUṞI. • To converge the study, the disease KAṆṬAKIRAKAM - a vata predominant disease according to yūki was taken in the aim of acquiring précised conclusion. • A wide and comprehensive Literature review was collected from many sources regarding Fay theory and its parameters, Nirkkuri neykuṟi, Kaṇṭakirakam and other siddha parameters needed for this research. • The clinical study on Kantakirakam was carried out in the 40 out patients in post graduate department of Noi-Naadal at Govt. Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai. • Patients with clinical signs and symptoms of Kantakirakam of both sex with different ages were studied under the guidance of faculties of post graduate department. • Nīrkkuṟi parameters were studied on the basis on RGB pattern of colour for niram, Calculating total dissolved solids for edai. • Neikuri parameters were observed and studied with the aid of specially designed rings in the aspects of Speed of spread, Area of spread and Regularity of spread. • Physical parameters of urine were studied using different methods, Refractometer for specific gravity, Capillary rise tube method for Surface tension and automated probe thermometer for temperature. • Besides this, patients were examined based on the case proforma designed based on the basis of Nōy kuṟippu cīṭṭu (case sheet model no.2) from the textbook of Nōy Nāṭal Nōy Mutal Nāal Tiraṭṭu. • Based on the analysis, the relevance of the symptoms of Kantakirakam in present day sample is significant. • The applicability of diagnosing the disease Kantakirakam with siddha diagnostic procedures are significantly shows the humoural derangement of Vatam and Kapam. • On analysing neykuṟi with physical parameters, Specific gravity of urine is responsible for area of spread, Surface tension plays an important role in Regularity of spread Temperature has a vital role in determining speed of spread. CONCLUSION: This study exhibited that the diagnostic tool-Neykuṟi is built on the basis of strong scientific background. This study revealed that in Neykuri Specific gravity of urine is responsible for area of spread, Surface tension plays an important role in Regularity of spread and Temperature has a vital role in determining speed of spread. However, furthermore elaborated studies with large sample size is essential to a deep insight towards it.Along with physical parameters of urine, the biochemical composition of urine will reveal the actual happenings of urine during the procedure of neykuṟi. A detailed study on comprehensive analysis of both physical and biochemical properties of urine along with neikuri parameters is needed. In future scope, This study insists that the diagnostic tool Neykuri which is a costeffective, simple, reliable, Non-invasive procedure should be customized it in a modern, feasible way in accordance with siddha parameters which may helps in Instrumentation of Neykuri tool in a better way.
