The clinical study on NEER MANTHAM with reference to its etiology, classification, clinical features, treatment and prognosis in both siddha system as well as modern system of medicine were carried out in the outpatient and inpatient ward of post graduate department of kuzhanthai maruthuvam. 2. Siddha diagnostic methods and modern diagnostic methods were carried out in all cases and recorded. 3. All the patients were treated with Ilaneer Kirutham – Varakenadai – 4.16 gm thrice a day with milk for 27 days or until the symptoms get relieved. 4. Complicated cases those who need emergency treatment were excluded for this study. 5. The trial drugs had corrected the clinical features of neer mantham and restored the normal health of the patient. 6. Clinically the drugs were free from adverse effect during the course of the treatment. 7. The Biochemical studies of the trial drug reveal the presence of phytochemicals like Calcium, Sulphate, Chloride, Starch, Unsaturated compound, Tannic acid, Reducing sugar. 8. The pharmacological analysis of the trial drug showed Diuretic action and Anti inflammatory action. 9. The microbial analysis reveals that the trial drug Ilaneer Kirutham was moderate resistant to Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia and resistant to Pseudomonas aeruginosae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus Pneumoniae. CONCLUSION: NEER MANTHAM cases were treated both as inpatients and out patients with the trial medicine ILANEER KIRUTHAM – Varaganedai – 4.16gm thrice a day with milk after food for 27 days or until the symptoms get controlled. 80% of the cases showed good response, 10% of the cases showed moderate response, 5% of the cases showed mild response and 5% of the cases showed bias response. The trial drug were very effective to the patients and there was no recurrence of symptoms. Clinically the drugs are free from adverse effects and so they are useful for long term therapy for pediatrics. The drugs are also very cheap and easily available. So it is concluded that Neer Mantham is controllable and curable disease with Ilaneer Kirutham along with good personal hygiene.
