Abstract
In the last 2 decades Endoscopes have emerged as an important tool in otology. Endoscopes have outweighed microscopes due to its numerous advantages. The present study analyses the effectiveness of endoscopes in stapes surgery and factors affecting the audiological and surgical outcomes of stapes surgery. 30 patients who were clinically diagnosed as otosclerosis were included in the study and the audiological and surgical outcomes of stapes surgery were analysed post operatively. Of the factors studied none them were significant to predict the the outcome of the surgery. And 93.3% had < 15db airbone gap postoperatively, this suggests the success of the surgery. Thus endoscopic stapes surgery is safe and feasible and is a good alternative to microscopic stapes surgery.
