Abstract

To analyse the surgical outcome of extended excision of pterygium with suture less and glue less conjunctival autograft in pterygium surgery. Total of 60 eyes were included in this study. In our study, pterygium was more commonly observed in fifth decade of life. There was male predominance and its incidence was found to be high in those engaged in outdoor works. In our study statistically significant improvement in best corrected visual acuity was observed in patients post operatively (p < 0.001). Also there was significant reduction in astigmatism after surgery (p < 0.001). Patient’s comfort level was good and the final cosmetic appearance was excellent. This procedure had minimal incidence of complications and low recurrence rate (1.67%). Hence this extended excision of pterygium with suture less and glue less conjunctival autograft is a simple, safe and effective procedure.
