They were started on centchroman 30 mg single dose on alternative days for a period of 24 weeks and were assessed at 4, 8, 12, and 24 weeks. The Results were recorded as per clinical examination, ultrasonography for breast lump and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain. RESULTS: A total of 60 patients were included in the study, 30 (50%) with mastalgia and 30 (50%) with fibroadenoma, and further randomly categorised into study (15/30) and control (15/30) groups. At the end of 24 weeks in study group, 12/15 (80%) patients of fibroadenoma had complete regression whereas in mastalgia group, 12/15 (80%) had complete resolution of pain. Only 4/30 (13.3%) patients had menstrual delay as side effect. CONCLUSIONS: Centchroman is effective, safe and inexpensive showing good results in mastalgia and fibroadenoma,
