Abstract
Forty children with Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi Noi) were diagnosed using clinical symptoms and lab investigation. Clinical diagnosis of Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi Noi) was done on the basis of clinical features described in Pillai Pinni Maruthuvam text. Lab investigation was done by Modern methods of examination. The various Siddha aspects and modern aspects of examination of Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi noi) were carried out and recorded in proforma. The aetiology and clinical features of Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi noi) may be correlated to Ascariasis. The medicine chosen for clinical treatment of Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi noi) was Sadhakupppai choornam 500mg – 1 gm internally two times a day with hot water. The ingredients of trial medicines were found to have the properties of controlling Kudal Kirumi (Naakku Puchi Noi). Sadhakuppai and Karuncheeragam have anthelmintic action as mentioned in Gunapadam- Mooligai textbook.It helps to expel the worms from the intestine. Also other ingredients such as Elam, cheeragam, Peruncheeragam, Adhimadhuram, Kothamalli, Lavangam, Lavangapattai has carminative action. It helps to improve the appetite, which is affected in Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi Noi). In Pharmacological analysis, trial drug Sadhakuppai choornam posseses anthelmentic action, which control the disease and it confirms the clinical prognosis of Kudal kirumi (Naakku puchi noi). In Bio-chemical analysis, trial medicine shows the presence of ferrous iron and calcium. The clinical trial conducted in selected patients was satisfactory and encouraging.
