Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a widely discussed issue in western contexts and developed countries. In contrast, limited information is available about ADHD in eastern contexts and developing countries. In India in particular, the only available information is about the medical perspective of ADHD; little or no attention is given to social or educational perspectives. AIM OF THE STUDY: The aim of the study is to examine the Efficacy of Play based Occupational Therapy (PBOT) in Adaptive Behavior of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). OBJECTIVES: 1. To assess the Adaptive Behavior of the children with ADHD. 2. To examine the effect of Play Based Occupational Therapy interventions in improving the Adaptive Behavior of children with ADHD. METHODS: A total of 30 male and female subjects in the age group of 4 to 8 years participated in the study who were allocated as 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group. RESULTS: Post-test data of the control and experimental groups in terms of mean values are 73.20 and 85.40 respectively. The “t” value is2.2794 and the “p” value is 0.0305 which is lesser than 0.05 indicating a significant statistical difference in the experimental group when compared to the control group with regard to Efficacy of Play Based Occupational Therapy interventions. CONCLUSION: Play Based Occupational Therapy has a significant effect on improving Adaptive Behavior of children with ADHD.
