Abstract

BACKGROUND: Allergic rhinitis is the commonest chronic disease of human race. It constitutes more than 50% of all allergies in India, and nowadays its incidence is steadily increasing worldwide. For treating allergic rhinitis, several treatment options are available nowadays. This study was done to understand the miasmatic background of patients with allergic rhinitis in Melpuram area. METHODS: A clinical study on 100 cases with allergic rhinitis was done at Melpuram rural Center of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. The cases for study were selected as per the inclusion criteria and diagnosis was mainly based on the clinical presentations of the patient. Improvement criteria were based on the disease intensity score chart values of allergic rhinitis. RESULTS: The study shows that 4% of cases shows about 72% - 80% of reduction in the total symptom score, 69% of cases shows about 81% - 99% of reduction in the total symptom score and 27% of cases shows 100% reduction in the total symptom score showing full improvement. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the study were highly satisfying. The results reveal that antimiasmatic treatment is highly effective in the treatment of patients with allergic rhinitis in Melpuram area. It has been understood that antimiasmatic treatment offers a rapid and permanent relief than any other means of treatment.
